Carnauba hand wax

Carnauba is a hand-applied wax based on the natural wax of the Brazilian palm — the hardest of all plant waxes. It is not about making the paint brighter: carnauba gives the gloss a different character, warm and deep, with a soft roll of light across the panels that synthetic products do not reproduce. There is a practical side too: for 2–3 months water on the body gathers into beads and rolls off, carrying dust with it.

The job takes about an hour and is done entirely by hand. First the body is washed and dried completely, then the paint is degreased so the wax bonds to a clean surface. We apply it with an applicator in a thin, even coat, panel by panel, wait for the film to haze and buff it off by hand with microfibre. The pillars, mirrors and fuel flap get their own pass, and at the end the gloss is checked under a raking light.

Carnauba is an add-on to a visit: it is ordered together with main paintwork such as the Exterior Package, the Silver Package, paint decontamination or panel polishing. If the car already has a ceramic coating, wax is not needed — a gentle hand wash is enough to look after ceramic.
