About this service
The outer edge of a door is the first thing to meet the neighbouring car in a tight parking space, a pillar or a wall. The paint on that edge is thin, so a chip there goes straight down to metal, and corrosion follows the chip. It is the most common and the most annoying damage a door gets. A thin strip of film along the whole edge takes that risk away.
We cover the edges of every door with a clear strip of film. The master washes and degreases each edge and inspects it before fitting. The strip is cut exactly to the length and radius of the edge and laid with a wrap onto the outer side, so the edge itself is fully covered. Then it is warmed along its whole length and pressed down.
The last step is a closing check: the film must not get into the rubber seal. The job takes 1 to 1.5 hours. With the door shut the film cannot be seen, and when the door opens it protects exactly the edge that hits first. The master arrives with all the equipment and works quietly wherever the car is parked. Next to this service in the catalogue are film for the handle recesses and for the door jambs: those areas suffer from the same everyday contact.
